Spa of the month
Doesn't time fly when you're lounging around in the lap of luxury? It's already been 10 years since Somerset's top celebrity hangout Babington House threw open its doors and began welcoming guests to its super-swanky surroundings.
It has since hit the headlines - and countless celebrity magazines - by providing the backdrop for a host of starry, starry weddings. Recent Babington brides have included Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden, newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky and rock-chick-turned-designer Pearl Lowe.
But now the country house hotel is celebrating its anniversary with the unveiling of a new stand-alone spa experience, Cowshed Relax. In a nutshell, it's a place to indulge, relax and pamper - which definitely sounds like our kind of getaway!
The area boasts three gorgeous bedrooms overlooking the house's pretty-as-a-picture Victorian walled garden. All rooms feature a wood-burning fireplace, a mezzanine-level bed and, perhaps best of all, a private terrace with a copper bath and bespoke George Smith treatment beds. So yes, couples can enjoy side by side treatments in the privacy of their own room. Bliss!
The sumptuous spa offers both wet and dry treatments. The wet area includes: a mud room; soaking tubs to help you detox and relax; a scrub room with two heated sandstone slabs where you can experience exfoliation and a full body rinse; invigorating showers; and a fabulous sauna. Treatments cost £45 each, or £80 for two.
Or for the ultimate indulgence, you could try a Cowgroom package. Two therapists work in synchronised movements to ensure complete and utter pampering and relaxation. All treatments start with an invigorating spearmint salt foot scrub and forehead pressure point and shoulder massage to prepare you for chosen package. An example? The 'Maintenance' includes a speedy facial, eyebrow tidy and quick manicure or pedicure. The price? £75.
