Cocktail of the month

Back in the early 80s, our fruit juice consumption was mainly limited to orange juice, orange juice or, erm, orange juice. But in 1987, Britain got its first taste of cranberry juice - and it swiftly became a favourite among the health-conscious and cocktail set alike.

Cranberries are packed with a unique combination of antioxidants and natural compounds to help protect the body from infection. What's more, the unique fruity/dry taste makes it a key ingredient in familiar cocktails such as Sea Breeze and the Sex and the City girls' top tipple, Cosmopolitan. Over 72 million litres of Ocean Spray Cranberry Classic are now sold in Britain each year - that's more than a carton for everyone.

To celebrate the drink's 21st anniversary, Ocean Spray asked top mixer Simon Gifford to create a special cranberry cocktail - with a twist. It's perfect for a girls' night in or a decadent treat before a romantic weekend dinner-for-two...
