London-born actress Thandie Newton's fresh-faced complexion and youthful outlook ensure she could easily pass for 10 years younger than her real age of 36. Currently starring as US Secretary of State Condeleeza Rice in Oliver Stone's George Bush biopic W, Thandie's versatility and talent shine through in every role she takes on.

'Thandie is one of the most gorgeous, sexiest women in the world,' says top make-up artist Paola Recabarren (www.paolarecabarren.com). 'Her skin tone is practically perfect - and she always looks so immaculate!'

So how can you steal Thandie's beauty style? First things first: if you're not blessed with flawless olive skin, give yourself a healthy glow with a tinted moisturiser. Paola recommends Dermalogica Sheer Tint Moisture SPF15 (www.dermalogica.com). Also make sure you cover up any blemishes with a good concealer.

And to highlight your cheekbones? 'Try to opt for a matt bronzer,' says Paola. 'Because of the moisturiser, your skin will look quite shiny - so apply the bronzer in very small amounts and gradually build up.' Paola suggests using a matt bronzer from Collection 2000's range (available in Superdrug). Then add a little rose blusher to the apples of your cheeks: MAC Powder Blush in Desert Rose (£14; www.maccosmetics.co.uk) should do the trick.

Now, for a really sun-kissed look - yes even in winter! - use the same matt bronzer to contour your eyes by applying it to the creases with a shadow brush. Add black liquid eye liner and two coats of black mascara such as 17 Ultimate Volume Mascara (£4.75; from Boots).

And for lips? 'You'll need a lovely thick sheer lip gloss to give an iridescent bronzed effect,' says Paola. Try MAC Dazzleglass in Miss Dynamite (£12.50); or ring the changes with Barry M's Lip Gloss Set (£5.95), which contains four different glosses to suit any occasion. And now you're ready for your Hollywood close-up...
