Get the celebrity look
She has just turned 40, she's currently on a world tour, and she looks more gorgeous with every day. Kylie Minogue is an inspiration to all of us who fear the effects of ageing - but her signature fresh-faced look is doubtless the result of a very carefully honed beauty regime.
'Kylie has to take care of herself both physically and nutritionally, due to her rigorous touring schedule,' says celebrity make-up artist Jane Bradley. 'This means eating properly and exercising regularly to help build strength and stamina. A by-product of this is a clear, glowing complexion. Eating healthily and drinking plenty of water will automatically improve the look of your skin, while exercise boosts circulation and adds vibrancy to your eyes.'
As skin matures, it loses its elasticity and bloom, so if you want to look like Kylie, it's time to start pampering yourself. 'Book yourself in for regular facials to keep skin looking fresh and smooth,' Jane suggests. 'Treatments such as microdermabrasion are great for sloughing off dead skin cells, or else, use an exfoliator once a week at home.' Jane recommends trying Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant (see http://www.dermalogica.com for stockists).
And as Kylie knows, when your skin's at its best, you'll need less make-up. The essentials? Try Estée Lauder DayWear Plus Tinted Moisturiser (£21.50; www.esteelauder.co.uk). 'It moisturises, provides gentle colour, gives a radiant finish, and has the added benefit of SPF15,' says Jane. Give a natural tint to your cheeks by adding a gentle cream blusher such as Daniel Sandler Watercolour Blush (£11; www.beautique.com).
And the finishing touches? 'Kylie nearly always wears youthful-looking lip gloss, plus a slick of mascara to frame the eyes and add sparkle,' says Jane.
