The limited edition Fiat 500byDIESEL was created jointly by the Fiat Style Centre designers and the DIESEL design team headed by Roberto Giolito and Wilbert Das. The idea was to create an ‘Urban Survival Vehicle’, matching the dynamics of the Fiat 500; perfect for town traffic whilst expressing the personality of DIESEL and its young and original customers.
Starting with a Fiat 500 Sport version as the basis, the design team revisited all parts of the car, both inside and outside, changing and adding details as required by the modified role and personality of the car and brands. The resulting 500byDIESEL comes in 3 colours: Green Diesel, Brown Diesel and Black. The exterior features numerous specific DIESEL aesthetic details, such as:
- Specific 16-inch alloy wheels with the DIESEL logo.
- Brake callipers painted yellow (an option only on the 100bhp 1.4 version.)
- Specific burnished-metal-finish front and rear bumper inserts.
- Specific burnished-metal-finish side rubbing strips.
- Unique side pillar moulding with the word DIESEL.
- Unique rear moulding with the DIESEL logo.
- Special door handles and door mirrors.
Inside, the car features special upholstery in denim fabric, a specific leather steering wheel with yellow stitching, a yellow instrument panel insert and a dashboard with a burnished-metal finish to match the exterior styling. The label logo also appears on the gear knob, while a special pouch reminiscent of the fifth pocket on DIESEL jeans appears on the side of the front seats.
In addition, there's a high level of standard equipment including a hi-fi system, glass roof, air-conditioning, fog lights and of course Blue&Me, the unique in-car voice activated hands-free phone and mp3 music system which Fiat created in collaboration with Microsoft.
