New Golf GTI. The thrill of driving
It’s the news all hot hatch fans have been waiting for - the thrilling new Golf GTI is in showrooms now. The design is pure GTI - from the wide, low stance and separated chrome tailpipes to the superb cabin with tartan sports seats.
Sharper, faster, cleaner
Advanced new systems offer a sharper, more dynamic drive. Accelerating from 0-62 mph in 6.9 seconds and with a top speed of 149*, it’s the best production GTI we’ve ever built. But the 2.0-litre 210bhp TSI engine is also more efficient. It achieves 38.7mpg (DSG 38.2mpg) with lower CO2 emissions of 170g/km (DSG 173g/km).
Advanced safety
17-inch ‘Monza’ alloy wheels, 2-Zone electronic climate control and flat-bottomed GTI multifunction steering wheel are all standard. And with advanced safety systems, including ABS, ESP (Electronic Stabilisation Programme) and seven airbags (including a new knee airbag), the GTI carries a maximum 5-star rating (test 2009) from EuroNCAP. Praise for the GTI from telegraph.co.uk: ‘It is so much fun to drive that I actually laughed out loud … it's so many cars: family load lugger, urban commuter, sports car, icon. Winner.’

GTD: the soul of a GTI in a diesel
Volkswagen’s groundbreaking new Golf GTD offers the thrill of hot hatch performance with the benefits of diesel economy. And it’s in showrooms now.
Exhilarating diesel power
There’s never been a more powerful Golf diesel, so you can expect a remarkable drive. Its 2.0-litre common rail turbodiesel engine develops 170PS and a substantial 258lb/ft of readily available pulling power. The GTD can go from 0-62mph in 8.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 138mph*, yet fuel consumption is 53.3mpg (DSG 50.4mpg). That means a single tank of fuel can take you almost 650 miles, while CO2 emissions are down to 139 g/km (DSG 147g/km).
Unique sporty look
Design cues echo the new GTI, including its iconic honeycomb grille. But unique touches signal the GTD badging, from the 17” ‘Seattle Shadow’ alloy wheels and chrome highlights to the black-stitched grey tartan interior. And options such as Adaptive Chassis Control which lets you choose normal, comfort or sport driving mode for any journey, or the latest satellite navigation system, add an individual touch.
