No need to worry - Astra TwinTop has an ingenious, fully automated folding steel roof which takes less than 30 seconds to close - and the system even works on the move at low speeds. Opening and closing safely, at a touch of a button, there is no messing about with clips or catches to release or fasten the roof.

 

Looking after your safety

The Astra TwinTop is classified as a Coupe Cabriolet meaning it is a convertible with a folding steel roof.  This creates a safe and secure sports car with all of the advantages of open-top driving.

 

Astra already has a five star EuroNCAP safety rating and the AstraTwinTop also offers a full complement of safety measures.  The body and chassis are specially reinforced and feature rigid rollover protection hoops on Air and Sport models, while Design models feature a pop-up roll-over aluminium protection system that activates and locks into position in a fraction of a second.

 

Inside the cabin, the driver and front passenger benefit from enlarged airbags giving front and side impact protection, pyrotechnic front body-lock seatbelt pretensioners and a patented pedal release system to lessen injury to lower legs.

 

Security features

There's no doubting the security benefit of having a solid roof on your convertible, plus Astra TwinTop provides Remote control central deadlocking, an electronic engine deadlock immobiliser and an ultrasonic security alarm as standard.

 

A true four-seater

Now, the next very important question on the list - is there enough room for rear passengers in the Astra TwinTop - the answer is yes! 

 

It's rare to find a full four seater in the Coupe Cabriolet segment, but Astra TwinTop offers generous seating arrangement with enough knee, legroom and shoulder space for two adult rear passengers.

 

An easy load

While most hardtop roofs consume boot space, the Astra TwinTop boot gives a fair size 205 litres of space with the roof down but more than doubles as a Coupe to 440 litres.  The traditional problem of roof-down access has also been solved by a handy device called 'Easyload'.  Press a button on the rear sill and the folded roof lifts by 25cm making it very easy to get a large bag in or out of the car.

Astra Sport Hatch doesn’t stint on the equipment front either! Every model comes with driver’s, front passenger’s and front seat side-impact airbags, electrically operated front windows, electro-hydraulic power-assisted steering and remote control central deadlocking. Air conditioning is fitted to the vast majority of models. And the goodies available on selected vehicles include Electronic Stability Programme-plus (ESP-plus), Adaptive Forward Lighting (AFL) and Interactive Driving System-plus (IDS-plus) with Continuous Damping Control (CDC). Rear parking distance sensors and satellite navigation also on offer
